After coordinating with the Department of Health, we visited hospitalized flood victims at the Northern Mindanao Medical Center. Most of them have been infected with leptospirosis. Of those infected, most are babies and children. Many have already died because of the disease. Some of them lost loved ones during the flood. One of them (Helen Barbiera, 61) lost 3 nephews and their whole families. She survived because she was not home that night.
Hospitalized flood victims are the ones who suffer the most during disasters. They have lost their homes and belongings. And they are unable to line up to get relief goods and donations. We need to prioritize helping and ministering to them. Please pray as we visit them again for friendship-building and data gathering. We will then plan out how we are to help them holistically.
